Birthday Cakes.... I love them!

I LOVE BIRTHDAY CAKES!!

Below are some fun ideas of ones you can make! In the past I have tried to make cakes for my children's bdays but at times my time has run out and I would have to buy an already made cake... They really loved the ones I made for them, even if they weren't the cutest! Below the cakes I found on the internet are cakes I have made for my kids and also my mom! When I have the time I love to do homemade cakes!!

Fruity Roll-UpsPackaged fruit-flavored roll-ups can be rolled flat and cut into shapes with a knife or cookie cutters. This cake was decorated with cutout circles and a band, but squares, diamonds, flowers, or dinosaur shapes would be fun, too

Sunflower Cake

A cake I did for my mom's birthday

A pirate cake for Landon

A dinosaur cake for Turner

A flower cake for Elli

If you can tell...a teapot cake for Elli for a "tea party"

A basketball cake for Conner

A rocket cake for Landon

I would love to hear your ideas of what you have done for your kidlets!!

Happy Easter everyone!!

This is my most favorite picture of Christ. I had the priviledge of taking an art class from the man who painted this picture... Del Parson. So it is extra special to me!
I hope you all had a beautiful Easter today!

One more last minute idea... a bunny cake...

My son wanted to take a picture so I told him he could take it of me holding the finished cake!

Here is my not so lovely drawing of the steps to making the cake... you should be able to click on the picture and it will get large so you can see my diagrams more clearly. INSTRUCTIONS BELOW...

Here is what it looks like from the side...

And here is the finished little bunny with Landon! He was so excited to see it all done!! He ate more than all of us!!

I learned how to make this cake from a girl in my speech class my junior year in high school! She did an entire speech on how to make a bunny cake. I thought it was so cute that I started making this since then.... Now my kids LOVE the bunny cake!! So here is a quick tutorial on how to make it...

First, you need to make two 9 inch cakes, either with a box mix or from scratch. This will allow you to make two bunny cakes.
Second, you need to cut the round cake in half and frost in between the two halves to hold them together. You will then have a flat side and a curved side... you will want to put the flat side down on a plate or a cookie sheet.
Third, you will cut a notch into the cake near the front to make the head.

Fourth, frost the entire cake with white frosting.
Fifth, cut bunny ears out of construction paper and put them into the head of the bunny and add eyes and a nose ( I used pink conversation hearts left over from Valentines day) and some whiskers (mine were made out of pink straws).
You can add "grass" around your bunny by either using paper grass like I used or you can use coconut that you dye green (put some coconut into a ziploc bag and squirt some food coloring into it and close the bag and shake it until the coconut is green)

VOILA!!! You now have a darling bunny your kids are sure to gobble up in a minute!!
